Why?

The reason I'm starting this blog is to mainly catalogue all the guitars and related ephemera, that I have admired on local (Toronto) used websites, Craigslist, Kijiji and such. The aim isn't to feature all the expensive vintage brands but the lesser known, but still pretty cool, weirdo pre-1980's items made in countries like Germany, Japan, Italy, and Sweden. I'd like to show what kinda of awesome stuff you can get from $50 - $1000 bucks. But mostly more on the lower end of that scale. *none of these photos are mine unless indicated.

Hofner 456 Archtop Acoustic

Mmmm pearloid....  Look at this beauty, made in Bavaria post-WII - early 1960's.  I played one of these at a shop in town a few years ago, and it was real nice, but a few hundred more than I was willing to spend at the time.

Midrange archtop for the time period with a maple body and bound rosewood fretboard.  Pearloid headstock, fret markers and "mother of pearl-esque" pick guard.  An original pick guard is always nice on a 50 year old guitar.  Non-original case, but hey you're getting a case so don't complain.

This one is probably early 60's with the adjustable truss rod.  You could sometimes get these pre-installed with pickups.

Decent price on this, its been up for a few weeks, but its about an hour out of the city.  Otherwise I think this could go for as much as $700-800.
